The Practice of Authentic Assessment in EFL Class

The 2013 curriculum of Indonesia requires authentic assessment, where students are assessed for their attitude,
cognitive and skill. The aim of this study was to know the EFL teachers’ practices of authentic assessment in EFL
Class. The research was conducted to 8 English teachers . Qualitative research using case study was used in this
research. Observation and documentation were used in this research as the data collecting technique. Data analysis includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results showed that most of the teachers had used authentic assessments in their teaching. The authentic assessment is generally aimed at making students to be able to practice English in the real world. The authentic assessment was generally in the form of a performance based assessmnet by asking students to demonstrate the task gave to them. Some teachers also provide real life assessment to support the students learning.
